Jerry Garcia’s Art
This
blotter showcases twelve of the late Jerry Garcia’s LSD inspired paintings,
measures 10" inch x 7.5", comprising of 1200 hits, very thin paper,
which as a strange net like pattern structure, this print was originally
obtained from the Mark McCloud’s Institute of Illegal Images in S.F, and came
to me via Ted Simcock, I have been told that the Jerry Art blotter had the
privilege of appearing in a 90's DEA Microgram Newsletter, there seems to be at
least two variants of this blotter, an earlier one from 95’ and this one from
98’(?), Mark McCloud has photographs of both on his Facebook page, a
very rare and stunning psychedelic example of vintage blotter art, Circa 1998.

Condors Flying Through the Electromagnetic Field
Mark
McCloud’s California pride, the design features a Californian Condor flying
through a somewhat psychedelic, geometric, multi-coloured, mind’s eye view of
an electromagnetic field; the sheet is 7.5 x 7.5 inches and perforated into 900
1/4inch squares, apparently very good acid, around late 90’s – early 00’s, worldwide. Condors over Magnetic Fields rated around
120-150µg.
Dancing condoms
The
images originated from a Brazilian safe sex advertisement, which illustrated
the many different kinds of love, printed on both sides and twinned with the Pink
Elephants on Parade blotter, both blotters belong to Mark McCloud’s dirty
dozen, circulated in the late 90’s worldwide, some say that they were weak and
others that they were strong, more than likely two separate batches, weak or
not this is still a great blotter to look at.
Circa 90’s, printed on textured paper this double sided sheet was perforated into 1000 tabs, I have been told
that it may possibly have been laid with AL-LAD or another LSD analog, or it
could have been plain old LSD, the only people that really know are the folks
who dipped them, if anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know.

Leary Profile
Another
one of McCloud’s dirty dozen, circulated late 90’s, This
piece is known as Leary Profile. This was issued at a time when Leary knew that
his death was fairly imminent. It shows a detailed, full size profile image of
Tim, imposed upon a background of "smi2le" and other images. The term
"smi2le" stand for a theory of Leary's: "Space
Migration=intelligence2x life extension". Other images superimposed on the
Leary profile include a the image of death on his left shoulder, which in turn
is printed on "skulls" which are based upon famous alternative artist
S. Clay Wilson`s "Jolly Roger" icon. The musical notes which appear
on his face are from another of Tim`s favourite blotter pieces.

Leary Rainbow
Mark
McCloud’s homage to Alfred E. Neuman (of Mad Magazine fame) for his influence
on the psychedelic community, designed by underground artist "The
Pizz", combined with the E Pluribus Unum pyramid symbol which appears on the
US Dollar, 7 ½ inches by 7 ½ inches square, and is comprised of 900 1/4inch
hits, it was a popular blotter in California.
Marilyn Monroe
Andy
Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe first appeared in Amsterdam circa 2000, great print but
was said to be low quality acid.
The pyramids on the bottom are a combination of Alfred E Neumann from Mad magazine, and the E Pluribus Unum pyramid on the US Dollar. The formal name for the print is Alfred E Pluribus Unum. ;)
ReplyDeletebrilliant stuff, what a collection
ReplyDeleteHearts & Ankhs was big around here in North Metro ATL in the mid-90's. Was actually the first LSD I ever ingested. Didn't chemically analyze it, but I have fond memories of the 3 times I experienced it. Cool collection, brings back a lot of good memories and life-changing experiences!
ReplyDeletei had ankhs before in maryland lost my hotel room almost got washed off the jetty they were strong...1995 hightimes magizine had them on the whats goin around page i dont recall hearts though just ankhs they were legit
ReplyDeleteA friend had Marilyn Monroe blotters during the winter and New Years Eve of 1998 and it was quite weak. It was the first of a series of new blotter graphics, like the red ying yang, che Guevara, satellites, violet gemini and star trek. I used to live in northern Italy, near Milano and most of our blotters came from Holland
ReplyDeleteHere in North Georgia back in the early 90’s we had the Purple Hearts and Ankhs. Does anyone remember Infrared Roses? They came around about the same time.
ReplyDeleteOrange Sunshine and $100 Bill mid 90’s Austin, Tx??? Fire!
ReplyDeleteThe Alfred e Neumann acid produced the most insane trips I've ever taken! It got to the point that even looking at the image gave me anxiety!
