Woodstock, Unicorns, Musical Notes & The Lion Rampant & Double Eagle [Gryphon and Lion]

Woodstock [1980's]

Woodstock is a fictional character in Charles M. Schulz's comic strip Peanuts. He is Snoopy's closest friend and, after Snoopy, the most recognized non-human in the strip, a very rare example of this blotter classic that was in circulation throughout 1980's.

Blue Unicorns

The Blue Unicorn was a cafe on Hayes Street in San Francisco that brought the Beats to the Haight in the early 1960's and converted them to Hippies, circulated the USA in the early 80’s, but there are reports suggesting that they hung on well into the early 90’s.

Musical Notes

The Musical Notes blotter has been around for a long time and there have been quite a few different incarnations, the Musical Note blotter was said to have been one of Timothy Leary’s favourites. This example is probably an early 90’s incarnation, and came in three different colours, red, blue and , it shares similarity’s both in colour, paper and perforations to the 1992  Alien Girl - Liquid Sky blotter http://vintage-blotter-acid.blogspot.co.uk/p/lotter_2.html

The Lion Rampant & Double Eagle [Gryphon and Lion]

Another blotter that I can’t find much info on, Mark McCould has a lager example on his website: http://www.blotterbarn.com/gryphon.html he calls it the Gryphon and Lion, the full sheet contains a repeated pattern of Gryphon & Unicorn and Double headed Eagle & Loin, printed in blue on white.

  2. The very 1st time I EVER tripped, I dropped 2 hits of dbl dipped blue unicorn, then we drove to Bloomington IN from Indy so the geniuses we were could cliff dive in the dark at 1am on a Friday night...no matter how things went, where they ended, that is seriously 16 hours of my life, I will NEVER forget...im talking the summer of 1987, being 15/16 yrs old, not a care in the world, other than a carload of borderline delinquents, we all share the same, single fear...plz dont let no cops sneak back here on us, Lord shelter us from the red & blue lights tonight & may the tracers be plentiful...Seriously tho, NOTHING else really mattered to us back then...I quickly realized I was the the only 1st timer in the bunch. As the others worked overtime to insert a slight glimmer of doubt in my mind. Each of them assuming theirs attempt to scare me or at the very least, inflict a certain level of confusion into my thought process...Tho unbeknownst to us all, i quickly fell into the role of seasoned veteran of the meantally unstable thoughts of a blotter saturated mind...i had a certain level of sharpness to my mind that night. I seemed to always keep myself a few steps ahead, of the others, or at least this was my perception of the ongoings thus far, tho we are all still in the infancy of this unforgettable, late 80s, Indiana, summer night....
